Chapter 7

Sahil's POV

I caught her hand and we came out.

" What was that?? " I asked Raima in a raised voice. I was literally irritated with her. She spoilt the evening of my family as well.

" What?? " she looked at me with feigned innocence.

" Why did you have to say all that? " I said as soon as I started driving my car.

" What did I say? "

" You pretended to be my girlfriend. As if we were courting. "

" So?? We are dating, are we not? " she said.

" Listen to one thing and once for all, I am not interested in any relationship. I made it clear in the beginning, that I don't do love. Please keep that in your mind and don't ever try that again. "

" But Sahil... "

" No discussion on this, how can you say all that in front of my family,  my younger sister? It was so embarrassing. "

" Ok fine.. sorry. I was just trying to be friendly with them... "

" There was just no need for that. " I said and stopped the car in front of her home.

" Won't you come in for..... Coffee ? "

" No "

" C'mon Sahil, now don't spoil the fun."

" I have a headache... I need to go. "

I said.

She came closer to me to kiss me but I turned my face.

" Please Raima, I need to go and sleep. " she got down from my car and before she could say Anything, I placed my foot on the accelerator.

I came home and went to have a glass of chilled water. I drank water and when I was going to my room,  I saw Sagar, Swati and Manu coming in.

Swati and Manu ignored me and went to their room.

" I am sorry that stupid girl spoilt your perfect evening. " I said to Sagar.

"  It's ok Sahil, it was just an evening. I would have many such evenings with our loved ones. But I am feeling bad for you. Do you want to spend the rest of your life like this? Think about it Sahil... "

He said that and went to his room. I don't know for how long, I kept standing there thinking about what he said.

********

It was morning and I went outside everyone was having breakfast.

" Good morning... " I said to everyone but they just returned it with a polite faint smile.

Only mom seemed ok, she smiled at me and served me breakfast. I was eating when I felt that my dad was looking at me.

I saw him glaring at me. " I need to talk to you Sahil. Finish your food and come with me. "

" Ok.. "

" Let him eat properly... " Mom said to dad and gave me more paneer parantha. I was very hungry and ate a lot.

" Mom, it is really good. Very tasty." I said smiling at her.

" Again the credit goes to, Manu and Swati ... They made them. Swati is trying to learn new things in cooking. Good for her... " Mom said with a broad smile.

I looked at Manu she was eating quietly eating her breakfast looking into her plate. Even Swati was not her usual self. She was very quiet.

Just then Samar came and said good morning to everyone. Everyone smiled at him. Mom served breakfast to him also. He loved it and thanked mom and mom told him the same.

He smiled like a weirdo to hear that. What was so funny in it??

" Hey, Manu, what time do you take the cooking classes? Can I get myself enrolled in them? " he said with a broad smile.

" Why do you want to learn Samar Ji?" Manu asked him.

" Well, what will happen once you go from here? I need to learn by then. "

" Very funny..." Sagar said and smiled.

" I have a suggestion that you settle here in Chandigarh. You can even start a restaurant of your own. At least, I will eat all the meals there. " Everyone laughed at that.

" Well good idea Samar Ji but I am not interested in opening a restaurant. I am a photographer. I am happy with that. I just love to cook for my family and friends.  "

" Ok then another suggestion, get married here in Chandigarh and settle down. "

I chocked on my food and Sagar and Manu also looked a bit shocked.

Why was he after her?? Was he proposing indirectly?

" I have a better idea... You should get married to a beautiful girl. She will make your favourite dishes in all the meals. " Manu said with a smile.

" Brilliant idea Manu. I will definitely look for a beautiful girl who can cook like you as well. Thanks a lot for your valuable idea and awesome food. But I still want to attend the classes. " Samar said and smiled.

" So how are the preparations going on? " Dad asked to change the subject.

" Very good uncle, everything done, if you need any help, just let me know. " Samar said.

" Sure beta, you are very nice, your aunty was telling me that you are helping her in shopping as well. I really like, how hard you are working."

" Thanks a lot, uncle but Damini is just like my sister. So doing arrangements for her is my responsibility. "

" Your dad is really lucky, to have such a responsible son. You are taking Mr Srivastava's responsibility too, while some people don't even take their responsibility," he said looking at me.

Samar looked at me and again turned the topic to food. Though he always turned the topic to food still I was thankful that he did.

" Aunty do you have something sweet too? "

" They made some cupcakes. Swati get it beta. " Mom said.

Swati brought some cutely decorated cupcakes.

" Wow!! They look so amazing, I am sure they would taste even better. " He said and passed the platter to everyone. We all picked one but he picked two.

They were really amazing. Swati was looking at everyone's face. Everyone liked them.

" Wow !! Now tell me when will you teach me this? "

" Anytime you are free... " Swati said to him. He smiled back.

" From tomorrow then. Ok? " he asked both the girls and they nodded and giggled.

" Ok.. "

I got up to go to the office. But dad stopped me.

" I said, I need to talk to you... "

" Ok, tell me. What do you want to talk about dad? "

" Oh, so you want me to spell it out for you? Fine son, I will do that... I want to talk about Manyata. "

" There is nothing to talk about her. "

" You can't behave like that. "

" You can't behave like that too, I am your son, not your property. I have feelings too. "

" Learn to be responsible.... "

" How can I be responsible for her? "

" You are b......  because of the promise I gave to her parents. "

" Exactly dad... You made the promise. So she is your responsibility.  Don't involve me in this. " I said and went out.

I went to the office and worked there for the whole day. In the evening I went to the same club again. As I was feeling very stressed out. I needed to find that girl, Manyata.

I went to the bar directly and started drinking.

Samar's POV

I was lying on my bed thinking about the sweet girl,  I had fallen for. My beautiful angel, Swati. Swati Malhotra, the younger sister of my best friend Sahil.

I saw her for the first time about 3 years ago. When she was in India during her vacation and I had gone to Delhi for some work. I  stayed at their place for 5 days and saw her every day and felt some kind of attraction towards her but I did not take it seriously at that time.

But later on, whenever I got to know that she was in India, I went to Delhi. I didn't know why I did that. I explained myself that I wanted to meet Sahil and had some work in Delhi.

I thought that It would hurt Sahil that I was interested in his sister and he might get angry with me. So I always kept my feelings bottled up in my heart.

But when dad wanted me to get married to Damini I realised that I could not even think about it as I  had that kind of feelings only for Swati.

I came to know that she was coming to India as vacations had started and she would stay in Chandigarh for Sagar and  Damini's wedding, I was very excited.

Sahil was going to get them back to Chandigarh I could not wait till then. So I told Sahil that I had some work in Delhi and I was going to Delhi also hence we could go together. He agreed and I went to Delhi with him I did some work in Delhi and then we went to pick up Swati.

Samar's POV

That day my heart was beating like anything when I went to the airport with Sahil to pick up her.

I saw her coming and was mesmerized to see that she had become even more beautiful. Well, good looks were there, in their genes.

She jumped on Sahil. She was so full of life. I said hello to her and she just nodded and smiled.

She kept telling Sahil about her life in Canada. And kept listening to her. Her voice was so sweet.

Sahil asked me to stay with them and I didn't refuse as I wanted to be near her. Sahil had to stay back in Delhi for two more days.

He told me to take his mom and sister back to Chandigarh. I was so happy and did that. Aunty kept sleeping for the whole ride while I got a chance to spend some time alone with her.

She was so cute and talkative. She was shy in the beginning but became friendly soon.

And after reaching Chandigarh we have been meeting almost every day. I went to shopping and have dinners with them.  I loved the way she chose the dresses and then would wear them. I gave my suggestions and she always took them.

I was enjoying every second of these days with her. She was becoming more friendly with me. She was cooking new things with Manu and loved every single thing. I was falling more and more for her.

I loved the way she always called me as Samar Ji. It was so cute. I was eating almost all my meals with them so that I could spend more time with her.

My dad and Damini parents asked me to join them for meals repeatedly but I wanted to be with Swati. Damini asked me what was the matter but I said that I would tell her very soon.

Though Damini was just like my sister and a very good friend, she was getting married to Sagar. I didn't want to take a risk. What if she said something to tease me or Swati in front of Sagar or Sahil?

I was dreading the time when Sahil and Sagar would come to know about my feelings for their sister.

Sagar used to think that I was interested in getting married to Damini as the Damini's parents and my father were very good friends and they wanted us to get married.

Sagar was annoyed with me because he was madly in love with her.  But then I told him that I don't want to get married to her because I was in love with someone else for many years. He was really happy to know that.

He asked me about her,  but I could not dare to tell him that it was his sister, Swati.  He asked me to help him to get married to Damini and in return, he promised me that he would help me in getting my love.

He also said that he would help me in impressing the girl and her family but I am scared how he would react to know that I was talking about Malhotra and the girl was Swati.

Sagar was still better... but Sahil ?? Sahil is gonna kill me. But, I can't help it if I was in love with her.

I was attracted to her when I saw her for the first time. I didn't realise that I had fallen for her, but when my father wanted me to get married to Damini, I realised that I could not think my life without Swati and I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her and her alone.

I was thinking about all this when the phone started ringing. Who was calling me at this hour?

I saw Sahil's number. I picked it up.

" Hello, Sahil?? "

" Hi, Samar!! this is Neeraj. Sahil is here and he is drinking like anything. He is not feeling well. I saw him drinking here alone, so thought that I should inform you. "

" Thanks a lot, yaar.. you did the right thing. I will be there in 10 minutes. " I disconnected the call, change my clothes,  picked up my wallet and car keys. I reach there in 10 minutes.

I saw him sitting there at the bar still drinking I stopped him from drinking and took him out of the club.

" What is this Sahil? Why were you drinking like this? You don't drink more than two and that too only in a party. "

" Samar just find her.. " he said in a slurred voice.

" Whom?? " I asked him.

" I need to talk to her... please find her." Why was he behaving like that?

" Whom are you talking about? "

" Manyata Singh Rathore... "

I made him sit in my car and asked him to drink lots of water. He was not used to drinking so much. So he vomited there. I made him wash his face and mouth.

He was a bit sober now.

" What happened Sahil?  Why do you want me to find Manyata? "

" I don't know, I am very restless these days. That stupid brainless girl has not even reacted. I deliberately added a few things to infuriate her. But it seems she is spineless." He was saying.

" I should not be bothered about her, but I am feeling bad that she is somewhere alone while her parents are not here to take care of her. Dad looks at Sagar with so much love and when he looks at me that warmth is lacking as if he was accusing me. " He looked at me and I could see the pain in his eyes.

" I could not say anything when he asked me about her.  I don't want to be associated with her. I don't want marriage. " I patted his back, he was feeling very bad.

" I am very restless, I can't even tell Sagar. He has shared everything with me till now. He is really happy after a very long time. He was not even living his life, till he met Damini again.  I don't want to give him stress."

" Ok, let me drop you home. "

" No... I don't want to go there. No one cares for me. Dad is angry. Everyone is avoiding me.  "

" Sahil,  you need to go home and sleep. " I drove him to his home.

It was quite late but Sahil had his set of keys. I opened the door for him and took him inside. I made him sit on a couch and wanted to make lemonade for him.

I was looking into the refrigerator for some food for him too. I saw the cupcakes. A smile came on my lips. I took out one.

" Samar Ji?? What are you doing here at this time? " I was startled and turned to see Manu standing there

" Oh !! I am looking for lemons and food. " I said. She saw the cupcake in my hand.

" You came here at this hour to look for food in the refrigerator?  " She tried to hide a smile. I smiled at that.

" It's not like that... " I said.

" Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something? " she asked sweetly.

" Though I am not hungry at all I don't mind eating this."

" Sure..."

" I was trying to find something to eat for Sahil. He did not eat. "

" Where is he ?? " her smile dropped and she asked me.

" On the couch, in the living room. "

" I will reheat the food and get food for you. "

" Can you find me some lemons, I will make the lemonade. " I said and she looked at me.

" Why do you want to have a lemonade with a cupcake and that too, at this time of night? " She looked at me with surprise.

" I... don't want it. Sahil needs it. He vomited so... "

" Oh.. is he fine?? " she asked with a worried look.

" Yes... Better now... L.. lemonade?"

" I will get it too. " She said and I came out of the kitchen.

She got lemonade and food and kept it on the dining table. I directed Sahil towards the table and made him sit.

" Please find her..... " Sahil looked at Manu and said slowly.

" Whom ?? " Manu asked.

" N..nothing ..." I answered quickly.

" But he just said, find her... Whom? "

" Manyata... " He said before I could stop it. He was still under the influence of alcohol.

Manu looked a bit startled. She looked at him with questions in her eyes.

I served the food for him and he refused to eat.

" First you drink that and then eat that food. " I said firmly and he did that. I also ate cupcakes. It was awesome.... and after he finished the food. I dropped him to his room and came out.

I  looked around. Wanted to have a glance of my angel but it seemed that she was already in her dreams.

I hope she is dreaming of me.

Does she ever dream about me?

Shut up idiot or her brothers would beat you.

Hmmm.....

" Is he fine?? " manu asked me.

" Yes... He is fine now.. don't worry. "

" I am not worried about him," she said very quickly with a hard expression on her face.

" Ok.. bye, good night. " I said and came back to my place. I would be going back there in the morning for the joining cooking session with my angel.
