Gautam's POV

I got a call from Prachi saying that I must come to Maurvi's place as there is something wrong with Maurvi. I asked her what happened, but she said that she can't explain like that. I rushed outside to go to her place. I rang the doorbell. Prachi opened it immediately. I got inside quickly.

" Now tell me what happened? Where is she? " Prachi pointed towards the drawing room. I almost ran there and saw her standing there with a cake in her hand. I released my breath which I didn't even realise I was holding. 

" Happy Birthday ..." She said shyly.

She remembered my birthday, made a cake for me and is giving a surprise to me. It is my best birthday surprise. 

I wanted to take her in my arms and kiss her. 

" Hello… she said something to you. " Prachi teased me. I just smiled and walked towards her. Took the cake from her hands and placed it on the table. I drew her in my arms and kissed her on her head. Her hair was as soft as silk. 

" Thankyou Maurvi. I got a bit tensed when Prachi called up. Please don't do that in future. " I just loved to have her in my arms but had to stop it . 

" Come on yaar I am still here, please cut the cake." Prachi said and I smiled at that. 

I cut the cake and both of them clapped and wished me. I offered it to Maurvi first but she took a part of it and brought it near my mouth and I ate it, my lips touched her fingertips, she gulped. I was looking at her closely. The pink colour was creeping in her cheeks. She also ate the piece I was holding near her mouth. She took care that her lips should not touch my hand. She didn't have to be so careful...

" Don't keep getting lost in each other yaar, I am also here." We all smiled and I offered the cake to her as well. 

Maurvi cut more pieces of cake and served them in plates and then she went into the kitchen and came out with some sandwiches and her special coffee. She placed them on the table. 

" Maurvi aren't you forgetting something? " Prachi said and Maurvi shook her head. Prachi glared at her but she shook her head and glared back at Prachi.

" What is going on between you two?"

" Nothing... " Maurvi said too quickly.

" She was planning to give you one more surprise but is not giving now." Prachi with her tongue in her cheek. 

" Wow! I love surprises, if you have already planned, then why aren't you giving it? I am curious now... Tell me what it is. " I was very curious as these girls were up to something. 

" Well she was planning to giv...... " Prachi started speaking but Maurvi interrupted her.

" No, I didn't plan any such thing. She just suggested it but I didn't agree. " She again said very quickly. Her cheeks were turning more pink with every passing second. 

" At least tell me what it is... I am extremely curious now." 

" A kiss. " Prachi grinned

" No... " Maurvi looked shocked. I was shocked as well. I just couldn't say anything for a few seconds. Then it sank in gradually. 

" Really? " I was looking at her with amusement.

" No she is stupid she just suggested but I refused. " 

" But why?? I don't mind that after all you are my girlfriend. Right? " I was teasing her and she was as red as a tomato already. 

" Yes and as a girlfriend she must kiss you on your birthday at least. " 

Prachi said. I swear I really like this friend of hers. I wanted to kiss Maurvi too. 

" No... " 

" Why are you not his Girlfriend? Then what is the problem. C'mon don't be shy. " 

" Shut up Prachi. Stop this nonsense now. " 

" Oh you don't behave as a girlfriend are you seriously his girlfriend? " 

" Of course she is. Come on sweetheart just a small peck on the cheek would do. You can't be that shy. After all it is my first birthday as your boyfriend. Please " I looked at Maurvi and she glared at me. 

She got up from her chair and gave me a very quick peck on my cheek. I smiled like anything. I snaked my arm around her waist and thanked her.

After that my tomato didn't even look at me. But I was enjoying my birthday like anything. We had everything and then Maurvi gave me the cake in a box. 

" Thanks to both of you it was a beautiful beginning of my birthday. I am giving a party to my colleagues tomorrow... I mean today. You both have to come. "

" I am sorry tomorrow my maasi is coming back and I am very close to her so won't be able to come. But both of you please enjoy yourselves."

Prachi replied.

" Maurvi please be ready. I will introduce you to my best friend Vikram. He works in the same hospital and is a cardiologist. You would love to meet him. Bye for now. Thank you so much. " 

I came back to my place but could not sleep for the whole night. I just couldn't stop thinking about her.

Maurvi's POV

My heart is still beating very fast. I can still feel his arms around me and his kiss on my head. He seemed a bit tense when he came to my house as if he was very worried about me. Was he or was he faking it. It looked genuine. I shivered when his lips touched my knuckles. I had to give a peck on his cheek as Prachi was there and I didn't want her to know that we were faking it. I could not look at him for the rest of the time he was here. 

Prachi teased me alot about him. Finally we slept as I had to get up early to prepare our breakfast.

It was 6 AM and my alarm went off. I did my routine work and prepared open grilled cheese sandwiches, corn cutlets and stuffed Paneer Paranthas He had taken the day off from hospital. So I planned a brunch for us as I also did not have anything special in my college. 

It was around 10 AM and everything was ready. I called on his phone to come for breakfast. He came in ten minutes. Prachi and I served everything on the table. 

" Oh god you have prepared a feast for us. I can't wait to eat them." He said and we settled down to eat. He was sitting in front of me. He seemed to have taken a bath just now as his hair was still a bit wet. He took everything in his plate. He could not stop from moaning as everything was awesome. I loved the way he was enjoying the food so much. 

" Wow you really made my day with your cake, amazing food, out of the world coffee and not to forget the surprise of the day, the very shy and quick peck. Thank you so much. " 

He caught my hand and placed a kiss on that and smiled at me. I was so shocked at his sudden action, it seemed that my eyes would come out any moment. 

" What? I was kissing the hand who made the very tasty food for me. I do that for my mom too. You can confirm from her. " He winked at me and I blushed like anything.

" If you keep cooking like this, and I keep eating like this, my parents won't even recognise me. I would have to spend more hours at gym. But I would gladly do that to eat something like that. Thank you sweetheart." 

I smiled shyly. Why does he say such things.... My poor heart... I was already crazy about him. At this rate , I will definitely fall for him very soon.

Maurvi's POV

I got ready for the party and was waiting for him. The doorbell rang and I opened the door. He was standing there with a bright smile on his face. Oh no, my heart was beating so loudly that I feared that he might hear it. 

He was looking at me with a different kind of expression. I smiled at him.

" You are looking very beautiful. " 

" You are also looking very good." I said with a smile and we slipped into his car. 

He was about to start the car when I gave him a gift. He looked at it and shook his head.

' You didn't have to get one for me as you already gave me a gift by making my day special." 

" Take it please. It is nothing much. " 

He took it and opened it. It was a collection of DVDs of his favourite movies. 

" Wow! Thanks, I am keeping them on one condition that you would have to watch them with me. " 

" I don't like action movies but I may try others'. He smiled and started the car and a soft old song filled the car. " 

We reached there and waited for everyone. I saw a very handsome man coming towards us. He came towards us. He hugged and wished Gautam.

Gautam introduced us.

"Maurvi please meet my best friend Vikram. And Vikram she is Maurvi, My... girlfriend." He said smiling at her.

" Hello !! Nice to meet you Maurvi. " I smiled at him and said hello.

" So when did this happen?? I mean he is your boyfriend? How did that happen all of a sudden?" 

" Well you better ask this from him... I was shocked as well. " I laughed and that was not a lie.

" You are exactly like my younger sister, Vidhi. "

" Wow that is great. So you can treat me as if I am her and I found an older brother in you." I smiled lovingly at him. He nodded and hugged me.

" But as an older brother, I must say your choice is weird. I mean you chose him??? " He said and I burst out laughing. He seemed to be very nice. I was very comfortable around him. 

People started coming and Gautam kept introducing me. I kept making polite conversation, but it seemed that Vikram bhai was looking for someone.

Just then I saw Sandhya entering the door. What was she doing here? She was my senior and a very good friend.

 I lost touch with her once she passed the college. She came towards us. She nodded at Vikram and shaked hands with Gautam and wished him happy birthday and gave him a birthday gift.

" Thanks for coming beautiful, I really enjoyed the food made by you yesterday, You are amazing." He was saying and was still holding her hand. I was feeling a bit bad. 

Leave it Gautam. If you want to hold any hand, hold mine.

Vikram whispered to me, " Hey , What kind of girlfriend are you. Your boyfriend is holding another girl's hand. I mean I am just concerned about you. You must mend his ways." I giggled at that as now I understood that he was rowing on the same boat, and shook my head.

" You are concerned about me or getting possessive over her? I can see how your eyes were looking for someone till she came. And since she came your eyes are following every move of hers. You have eyes only for her. You like her, Don't you?? " I whispered back. He was shocked and his jaw dropped to the ground...he was thinking how do I know?? I just winked at him.

" Hi Sandhya, nice to see you. I hope you remember me. " Gautam and Vikram looked at each other with confusion.

" Hi Maurvi, Of course I remember you. We share so many interests. Moreover we participated in many things together. Not to forget our passion for cooking food.So how is college?" She hugged me and said.

" As good as you left it.... Well I am planning to join the college as a lecturer once this year is completed. I will have to do an internship for two months at an hospital too. So that I can have two options for my career.."

" Hello girls we are also here. Well, you already know each other. So I guess, only one introduction is left. Sandhya, meet my girlfriend, Maurvi. " Gautam placed his hand on my shoulder and I raised one of her eyebrows at him. He just smiled devilishly. I hit him in the ribs with my elbow. 

He was taking too much liberty when people were around. It is just an act but my poor heart will fall for him. I have to be strong.

Sandhya was smiling at us. Then she saw her friends and went to meet them. 

" Hey how do you know her? " Gautam asked me.

" She was my senior in college and we represented our college as a team in various competitions. She is a fabulous girl. I learnt many good things from her. "

A good looking girl and a handsome man were coming towards us. They came and wished him. Gautam introduced me to them. They were his colleagues.

She started flirting with Vikram, who had gone to get something to drink. He gave a fake smile and let her flirt.. She even caught his hand in her's and was standing very close to him. I saw him looking at Sandhya as if wanted to see if Sandhya was getting uncomfortable because of that. But got very disappointed when, she remained unaffected... He excused himself from Aditi and came towards me.

" So you were trying the oldest way to see if she has feelings for you or not..... By making her jealous of another girl by being extra nice with another girl. " He looked at me with shock.

" Can you read minds? How did you.. "

" Leave that for now.... Let me tell you one thing..... Like all the boys are not alike...... Every girl has different ways." 

" What do you mean?" 

" What if she thinks ... that you are interested in some one else and she gets attracted to another one, who might seem interested in her. " I said pointing towards a cute and handsome guy talking to her. Vikram made a face.

I saw that Aditi was flirting with Gautam now and he was getting annoyed with her. He was calling me. But I kept smiling at him. He wanted me to play the game again and rescue him from her. He was pleading with his eyes.

I told him with sign language that they were looking good together. He glared but I didn't go to him but then he made puppy eyes. 

" Then how should I check if she likes me or not? " Vikram asked and I smiled.

" Will tell you once I solve his problem." I went towards Gautam where Aditi was standing next to him holding his hand. 

" Hi, hey handsome don't you think you are holding the wrong hand. You should be holding my hand since I am your girlfriend. " I said with a fake anger. He was shocked. 

" No sweetheart I am not holding her hand she was holding mine. " He said.

" Yes, why not?? A few days back you had enough strength to release my hand from the vice-like grip of Naman who is more than 6 feet tall and weighs around 80 kg. But today you can't even release your hand from the girls grip who is merely 5'4" and not more 50 kg in weight? " I said sarcastically in an angry tone. He was looking at me as if I have two heads. 

" Dr. Aditi, if you don't mind, would you please leave his hand. As you must have heard that he is my boyfriend and I am not feeling very good to see you holding his hand. " I smiled at her but looked at her in a way as if I was daring her to keep touching his hand.

She released his hand as if it was a red hot object.

" Oh thanks, I am glad you did that. You would not have liked to mess with me. In future also just stay away." I smiled wickedly. She excused herself and moved hurriedly.
